Posted: 21st March 2025

Family-run Ludlow Brewing Company are celebrating after winning two national awards at the  SIBA Independent Beer Awards recently - with its milk stout Silent Knight picking up a gold medal.

Ludlow Brewery’s Derailed brand won gold at the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) National Beer Awards, which were held in Liverpool on March 20, 2025. Silent Knight, Limited Edition Vanilla Espresso Stout (4.5%), scooped top place in the Cask Speciality Amber to Dark Beer category. Red Dawn was awarded bronze in the Bottle/Can Amber, Brown & Red Ale category.

The gold medal is the biggest achievement for the brewery’s Derailed brand which separates the brewery’s more modern beers from its traditional British ales. The brand celebrates its fifth anniversary in July.

Head brewer Cody Palin said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Silent Knight has won gold at the SIBA nationals! This beer is a real labour of love, and to see it recognised at a national level is incredible.
“Silent Knight is a creamy, smooth stout with a hint of sweetness. It was created as a limited edition Christmas version of Ludlow Brewing’s core stout Black Knight, but proved so popular we kept it on. We’ve heard only good things about it in our taproom, so we thought it would be great to get it out there. Huge thanks to our team for their hard work and to everyone who’s enjoyed a pint of it - we couldn’t be prouder.”
