Taste the sunshine! Brewing with solar energy

Your cold beers will soon be brewed with power from the sun! The brewery has just had its second solar panel installation in line with the company's sustainable brewing strategy.
The new 35kw system adds to the existing 4 kw system, and means that on a sunny day our beers will be brewed with power from the sun. During lockdown we are using far less power than when we are firing on all cylinders, so the panels are storing enough power for our current usage, with the surplus being exported to the National Grid. When restrictions (hopefully) ease in the spring, the solar panels will be powering heat in the taproom, and providing around 10pc of power for brewing.
The solar panels cover the roof of our cold store. There are plans to extend the cold store, and once that is completed we will be able to install more panels, with the goal of brewing from 100% renewable energy.
